Padlo.co is open for business. The product does two jobs.
The first is scoring. A coach, a player, or whoever is standing at the fence scores the match from a phone, point by point, and the app keeps the padel rules straight. No arguing about who serves next in the tie-break. No whiteboard.
The second is the scoreboard. That same score reaches a screen at the venue while the match is still being played, so anyone walking past the court can see where the set stands.
Both jobs run off one score. You enter a point once. It lands on the screens, in the match history, and in the numbers we hand back when the match is over.
Why we built it
We play padel. Then we tried to remember what happened in a match we had played two hours earlier and found we could recall roughly three points out of eighty. Clubs have the same problem at a bigger scale. A club can run forty matches on a Saturday and keep a record of none of them.
Tennis solved this decades ago. Padel is younger, the courts are smaller, the rallies are longer, and most of the software written for tennis does not model padel properly. Golden Point, the glass, the way a point ends off a wall: those are padel problems and they need padel software.
Two kinds of customer
Clubs and event organisers want the screen. They want their tournament to look like a tournament, and they want spectators to follow a match without standing directly behind the glass.
Coaches and self-coached players want the record. They want to know what actually happened over ninety minutes instead of what they think happened.
We are building for both, because the same scored point serves both.
The bear
Padlo has a mascot, and the mascot is a bear. He shows up on the site, in the app, and occasionally on a screen at a venue. That is the whole explanation.
Who we are
Padlo.co was founded by two padel players from different working backgrounds. Vilhelm Toivonen leads the technical side and builds the platform. Markus Alitalo leads the business side and talks to the clubs. We share a court more often than an office.
